A few days later, Johnny and I were in a study room, reviewing our notes, well mine, and testing each other. Our midterm was coming up soon, and I was freaked out because it was my first exam in university. “So what are you planning to become after university?” Johnny asked during our break. “I want to be a nurse!” I said. “Oh, a nurse? That’s awesome! I’m planning to be doctor. Maybe you could be my nurse!” Johnny grinned. “You? No way! I’d rather find some handsome and manly doctor”, I smiled. “Yeah? Am I not handsome and manly then? Come on, tell me!” he exclaimed, poking me. I looked up to glare at him, but something stopped me.
I gasped. The moment I looked into his eyes, my gaze softened. His eyes are so blue… like the sky on a cloudless day…he looks so good without his cap on (which he didn’t, for some reason, wear today), oh my gosh, what’s happening to me? “Uh, is there something on my face?” Johnny asked, awkwardly. Immediately, I snapped back to my senses, my face turning red. “Um, yeah! There’s an eyelash near your eye”, I lied, lamely. “Oh, thanks”, Johnny said, rubbing his eye. I watched him to this, and looked away trying to shake the weird thoughts that were running through my head.
I went home a few hours later. The last few hours didn’t really help me at all, because I was thinking about my feelings for Johnny the whole time. Laughing and telling jokes to each other didn’t help either. When I walked into my room, I dropped my head onto my bed and screamed into my pillow. There couldn’t be a possibility that I’ve developed feelings for him, right? But he’s been so nice to me… Argh! Stop thinking about him, stop stop stop stop stop! I’ve only known him for a month… could it be true that I’ve found my soul mate during my first month of university? NO! Absolutely NOT! Ahhh!!
The next day at school, during Chem class, Johnny asked me if I wanted to study with him again. My heart gave a little flop when I heard this. Bad idea, Lina. You need to pay attention and study with no distractions! This exam is important! “Um, sorry Johnny, I actually have something to do tonight so we probably wouldn’t even spend much time studying anyways if we study together, besides, it’s not like I help you much at all!” I said, forcing a smile. “Oh, it’s ok! Hope you’ll get some studying down before you have to do whatever you have to do. And don’t say that, you do help me a lot. It’ll probably be because of you that I pass tomorrow”, he gave me warm smile that sent butterflies to my stomach. “Uh, haha yeah, see you tomorrow then, and good luck!” I smiled again and left.
