Chapter 2

“Uh, no?” I answered, taken aback. “Mmm”, the guy replied and sat down in the seat next to me. I looked at him. He had a cap on, so it was impossible to tell what colour his hair was, and he was wearing typical guy clothes, a t-shirt, a zip-up hoodie, and jeans. He looked just like an ordinary guy who didn’t care about school. Dismissing him from my thoughts, I turned my attention back to the prof and took notes. I looked at the dude again to see if he was writing anything the prof was saying and to my surprise, his notebook wasn’t even open! He was just staring absent-mindedly at the prof, leaning back with his arms crossed. Like I care, I thought and opened my pencil case to grab whiteout. My hand slipped and my pen fell to the floor with a loud clang. The guy beside me looked at me and my face reddened, knowing that everyone heard it and can see me. I sat frozen with embarrassment and didn’t even notice the guy get my pen for me. “Uh, here you go”, he said. “Oh, thanks”, I said, petrified.

Class went by soon enough and I was in a hurry to grab my stuff and leave before anyone saw me. “So um, I’m Johnny”, the dude said. “Oh hi, nice to meet you!” I said quickly. I wanted to leave right away because I had another class to go to, and to get out of this place! “Anyways, I’ve got to run so I’ll see you around! Thanks for getting my pen again!” I smiled and ran up the stairs.

Two more lectures later, I stood at the bus stop waiting for Ginny. The first day of university had been so overwhelming! There was soooo much information packed into each lecture, my mind was about to explode. “Hey, Lina!” Ginny appeared beside me. “Hey Ginz! How were your classes?” I asked. “Ughhh, so tiring! But I did meet some guy…” Ginny smiled. “Ooooh! TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!” my eyes grew big. How could she have gotten to meet a guy so soon?! “Oh um…I was sitting in Bio class and he was sitting in front of my and he just kinda caught my eye…and yeah!” Ginny finished, giggling. “Uh, ok? You didn’t even talk to him?!” I was surprised. “Haha, no I didn’t talk to him. I just noticed him from afar…” Ginny said, dramatically. “Oh Ginz, you are unbelievable!” I laughed, shaking my head. Our bus came soon after and we got on, chatting about her newfound guy.

Half an hour later, the bus stopped at Wellington Avenue and Ginny and I stepped off the bus. Not only are we best friends since elementary school, we were next door neighbours too! “I’ll see you day after tomorrow, since you only have one class tomorrow. Good luck ok? We can make it!” Ginny hugged me and walked into her house. I went to my house and walked to my room. Sitting on my chair, I sighed and thought about my first day of school. Well, it wasn’t all that bad I guess…no interesting guys yet, like Ginny haha! I wonder how many new experiences we’ll face this year…
