Chapter 1

I pushed my way through the crowd, desperately trying to find a gap that I could squeeze through. Why do they have to make it so that there’s only 10 minutes in between classes!? Do they even know how big this school is? I screamed in my head. It was my first day of university (I’m at the University of California Los Angelos), and I was already overwhelmed from my first class. There had been around 200 people at least! I pushed past a wall of people and ran into my lecture hall.

I gasped immediately. The room was GINORMOUS! There had to be at least 500 seats! I looked around for an empty seat near the stairs. I groaned as I realized that the only seats that were empty near the aisles were the ones in the very front, near the professor. Sighing, I tried to make myself invisible as I made my way down to the empty rows in front of me. Not daring to look behind me, I plunked down into a seat and took out my phone to check my texts.

Hey Lina! How was your first class? Uni’s waaaay different eh? Anyways, I’ll catch you later during break! love, Ginny.

I smiled. I didn’t have to worry about being all alone in school, because I had many friends from my high school who were attending UCLA as well, my best friend Ginny included!

Hey Ginz! It was ok I guess…man it totally is different! Kinda wish we were all back in high school haha xD Anyways I’ll TTYL! ~Lina.

I put my phone on my desk and focused my attention on the professor, who’d just walked in. “Good morning everyone! Welcome to your first semester at UCLA, if it’s your first year here, and welcome to Chemistry 101! This course will be full of content every single lecture, and will also compose of a laboratory component that is mandatory. They will start tomorrow at 8:00AM sharp so please go to your respected labs that you have registered!” I groaned out loud. 8AM!? That means I have to wake up at like 6:30AM…

I began to zone the prof out and snuck a peek around me. The lecture hall was packed! Well not really…the seats around me were still empty. I slapped myself mentally. Argh! I should’ve chosen a seat somewhere else…everyone can see me and can like, notice how lonerish I am… A slam of notebooks on the desk next to me snapped me out of my thoughts. “Hey, is anyone sitting here?” a male voice asked.
